The Allies have been clocking up the MatchBalls recently, with all the players now trying to put pressure on the man at the top of the leaderboard Paul ‘Fett’ McTaggart, who holds the top spot with 4 to his name. In the last 10 days however, 3 different players have put a dent in this lead, first Trent ‘Ahurazor’ Jones moved in to a tie for 3rd place by shipping his second. Then, 1 day later, Neil ‘Puggy82’ Stewart moved his tally to 3 and in to a tie for 2nd place, one away from our illustrious leader. Finally, Jason ‘Sufur’ Doucet took down his 3rd tournament this week and with it his 2nd MatchBall to move in to a tie for 4th place, meaning that the leaderboard now looks like this:

    Player
    MatchBalls
    Fett
    4
    Beej
    3
    Puggy
    3
    Ahurazor
    2
    Sufur
    2
    Merge
    1

Ahurazor won his MatchBall on the 13th of March, winning it in the space of two days, first shipping the €100 €10k on Micro for €4k on the 12th. Then taking down two Ongame tournaments on the 13th, the first of which was the $50 Turbo for $1.7k, the second, the $50 short handed $10k, for $2.3k. All in all 3 great wins, totalling $9.5k and moving his MatchBall tally to 2…..nice work Trent!

Puggy82 took down his MatchBall in the space of one afternoon, one day after Trent joined him on the leaderboard. The much sought after ’24-hour MatchBall’ was won by Puggy during a day schedule, in which he played some lower buy-in tournaments with the fields being reduced also. The day started off well for him, getting stacks in a few tournaments early but a problem with the 848 servers let him down and was locked out for a good 20 minutes, in the process losing his chip lead and his momentum in the $50 $4k ‘Typhoon’. Not to be phased by this early set back Puggy got a chiplead in a $4k Party Speed and was 3/13 just before the final table. He got to the final table lying 3/10 and played fairly abc, gaining ladders pretty quickly. With 4 players left, he had a great shot, all his opponents were very weak and when he got heads up it was just a matter of time, shipping it for $1.4k. The next one came quickly with him taking down a $108 $3k on Ongame for $1k, leaving one more for him to claim his MatchBall. That ‘one’, came on Micro in the form of a €10 2nd chance tournament, which when he got to the final table was pretty deep. He whittled his way through all that came before him and won his 3rd heads up match of the day, shipping it for €750, for a MatchBall total of $3.3k………nice work on the ‘Bauer’ MatchBall Puggy!

Next it was the turn of Sufur to increase the heat in the MatchBall race. His first win came last Thursday in the Party $7.5k. Starting at 6.30pm BST, this is a great addition to the schedule and almost always gets over its guarantee and last Thursday was no exception, with Jason outlasting 238 other players to pick up the $3.2k first prize! His second win on the MatchBall quest came when he shipped the $50 $15K Ongame Turbo on Tuesday for $3.2k, a great win as this Turbo is right in the middle of our schedule so can be tricky to play on certain days. He completed the sequence yesterday, again shipping an Ongame tournament, this time the $108 $12k and again for $3.2k, bringing his total winnings to $9.5k but more importantly taking him in to a tie for 4th place…….great numbers Jason!

Who will be the next Ally to turn up the heat on Fett, or will this spur him on to increase his lead at the top?!
