Sufur stands out on solid day for Allies
-
This Sunday again saw the Allies have chances across the board but only a few were able to make them count, leaving the rail pining for more!
Making a comeback to the virtual felt this week was Jim_Jimothy and it was he who had one of the better chances for a big score this week. Hoping to accomplish the Ongame Sunday double, by adding the Champion Chip to his $100k Gtd win earlier this year, Justin made a great start, chipping up fairly early and accumulating chips at regular intervals, to be one of the big stacks left in the tournament with around 100 left. From around 80 players left Justin was either 1st or 2nd from then on and with around 4 tables left had his first big heart-stopping moment. He re-shoved, after being flatted and then shoved on by a fairly active guy with 25bbs. Unfortunately for Justin, the first caller also shipped his chips in, meaning that his AJ had some serious catching up to do against the JJ and KK of his two opponents. But catch up he did on the A x x flop and he remained in the lead through turn and river to scoop a huge pot and cement his chip lead. Prior to the Final Table he had a few other big hands hold up against weaker holdings and with 12 left he was lying in 2nd place and in a great position. Twelve became Ten fairly quickly and with his chips still intact, Justin was primed for an assault on the Final Table. The action became very cagey, very quickly, as soon as it got down to 10 players and Justin had to adjust his game somewhat to counter this. The tournament remained 10 handed for at least 30 minutes and unfortunately during that time Justin lost a crucial pot. Brendoor, a very aggressive Ongame reg, who Justin had had a fair bit of history with, opened in 2nd position and it folded to him in the BB with AQ. It was a difficult spot to be faced with due to the stack sizes (both players had 35bbs +), but in-game Justin decided to 3 bet to 102k off around 1million; Brendoor then almost clicked it back, making it 170k off around 650k leaving himself a little more than 20bbs back and with Justin never 3b folding in this spot versus this opponent, his chips went in the middle and Brendoor made a quick call with KK. This time the board did Justin no favours and his AQ couldn’t improve, losing 2/3rd’s of his stack and leaving him with around 20bbs. He then raise/called a short stacks shove with KQ but couldn’t improve to beat A10 and then jammed Q3s in to K10s to bust in 9th……….a very tough pill to swallow for Jim_Jimothy but a great comeback and surely there is more to come from him soon!
Sufur was another Ally with a few chances this Sunday and was able to convert a few of them in to some nice scores! He would have been feeling pretty good early on after shipping the early 20r Turbo on Party for $3k. A very good tournament, which, if you get a stack in it deep, can also be quite an enjoyable one too, and Sufur took the maximum enjoyment and gave himself a free roll for the rest of a Sunday………mbn Jase! His other substantial score of the evening then came in the Ongame $100 f/o 25k gtd, where he took 2nd for $5k. He got unlucky a couple of times HU unfortunately and with it being 7.3k for the win, was slightly disappointed but again another great score! He also went deep in the Party major, cashing for $1.1k, so all in all a pretty good Sunday for Sufur and giving himself a sniff at a matchball for the rest of the week!
Fett and Ahurazor were the other Allies to go deep and each had good chances for decent scores. Fett’s best chance in a major was Microgaming but his run came to an end in a somewhat disappointing 33rd place, also taking 14th in the 20 cubed on the same sight. His best score came in the iPoker 15k Warm up, a new addition to the Sunday iPoker schedule, where he led the tournament from about 20 players left, having a 2-1 CL on the rest of the field when he reached the FT. He got to 3 handed play without many scares but the play got quite shallow pretty quickly and unfortunately his luck ran out at this point, making 3rd the best he could do for $1.7k.
Ahurazor got the deepest of the Allies in the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million on Stars, making the money for a $600 cash, but could go no further when his A9 ran in to AK. He then went deep in two other tournaments but could only muster mid teen finishes, with the Stars 20 cubed being his best chance for a score, with a whopping $23k for the win. But when his 78s ran in to JJ, he could not improve after flopping a gut shot flush draw and was out in 16th. A similar run of bad luck saw him finish 15th in the iPoker 100 f/o after losing AJs to TT and then JJ to A7 to get himself right back in the mix……..unlucky guys but these chance’s will turn in to big scores soon!Merry Christmas to all!
