Fett cashes as Poker Allies ‘Czech’ out!
-
A quiet night for the Allies only saw a few players on the virtual felt and no one really standing out, with only a handful of small cashes collectively.
Puggy82 again went deep in the 848 major, only to find his progress halted when his AQ lost to AJ for a 40bb pot with around 80 left, which would again have given him a great platform to attack the rest of the field. Chazmanchaz, had a few chances this Sunday although he wasn’t able to capitalise fully on them. He grabbed a 15th place finish in the Ongame SH Turbo and then had 3 good runs on Stars. He went deep in the Warm Up and got unlucky in a big pot, his AK losing to KJ to finish around 100th. He took 67th in the $162 6-max, with his best chance coming in the Sunday 500, where he was able to get a stack with about 100 left and things looked good for him for a while. However, he lost a couple of key pots and then ended up shoving 12bbs with a4 and looked good to at least chop Vs A3, when the flop came 2 5 K, the turn however, paired his 4 but also completed his opponents straight, sending him to the rail in 39th place.
This was about the best the Allies could muster this Sunday, but during the week we had another player introduce himself on the Matchball scene, congratlations BobaFett!! He achieved the ‘goal’ at the start of the week by shipping the Ongame 50d turbo for $3.2k, to go with his 100 Canadian win for 1.7k and on the same night, his Micro 20k win for €5.5k……..a great achievement from Fett who now joins Merge on the Matchball leader board with 1, both lying just behind Beej, who has 2!
This week was also a week in which 4 of our players exchanged the comfort of their living rooms for the bright lights of the Corinthia Hotel in the beautiful city of Prague! Puggy82, NeilMc, Benwa1 and BobaFett all made the trip out to Prague hoping to become the first Ally to ship a major live tournament. Unfortunately though, all bar one of them failed to make it to day 2, with NeilMc and Benwa exiting fairly early and Puggy82 holding on until the final stages of the day, only to suffer some late disappointment. Fett went through a rollercoaster of emotions on a very eventful day 1. At one point he was down to under a third of his starting stack, but slowly but surely he ground it back up to 40k with about an hour of the day remaining to put him in great shape for day 2. However, the final hour was to be very cruel to him, seeing him lose around half his remaining chips and leave him on 23k going in to day 2 @ 500/1k/100ante. Near the start of day 2 he doubled up to 53k with his TT holding v AK and the dream was back on, although it was to be short lived as he ran QQ in to KK, in a 70k pot, leaving himself just under 20bbs. He was able to grind out his short stack until the bubble and then called off his stack with A8s that held v A2, to give him a life line and almost assure himself of a cash. A few minutes later the bubble burst to mean Fett was in the money which also meant players started opening up again. Fett eventually jammed his remaining 9bbs with JT, getting called by 44, flopping a gutshot, turning his 10, only for his opponent to river a flush……sigh! Unlucky mate, but good work on taking home €2.5k, hopefully the next even can be the start of Poker Allies’ live run good!
